By downloading, installing, or using the FinCouple application ("the App") or accessing the FinCouple website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
FinCouple is a personal expense tracking application designed for couples. The App allows you to:
- Log and categorize expenses
- Link with a partner to share expense data
- View spending reports and category breakdowns
- Receive daily email and notification reports
- Set currency and notification preferences
The App is provided as a free service. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
3. Account & Authentication
You must sign in using Google via our authentication provider (Clerk) to use the App. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account information up to date.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. Partner Linking
FinCouple allows you to link your account with one partner using an invite code or email invitation. When linked:
- Both partners can view and manage shared expense data
- Either partner can add, edit, or delete expenses in the shared account
- Daily reports may be sent to both partners if configured
You should only link with someone you trust. We are not responsible for any disputes between partners regarding shared data.
5. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, other accounts, or our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the App or servers connected to it
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the App
- Upload or transmit harmful content, malware, or viruses
6. Your Data
You retain ownership of the data you enter into FinCouple (expenses, categories, descriptions). By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store and process this data solely to provide the service to you and your linked partner.
For details on how we handle your data, please see our Privacy Policy.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, logos, and content, is owned by FinCouple and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App without our written permission.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. FinCouple is not a financial advisory tool — it is a personal tracking utility only.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FinCouple and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising from your use of the App.
Our total liability for any claim arising from or relating to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any).
10. Account Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.
