Account Information
When you sign in with Google via our authentication provider (Clerk), we receive and store:
- Your name
- Your email address
- A unique user identifier from Google
Expense Data
When you use the app, you voluntarily provide the following data:
- Expense amounts, descriptions, and dates
- Categories you create or select
- Your preferred currency
Couple & Partner Data
If you choose to link a partner, we store the connection between your two accounts and any partner email address you provide for daily reports.
Preferences
We store your settings, including:
- Currency preference
- Daily notification and email report preferences
- Preferred report delivery time
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the FinCouple service
- Display your expenses, reports, and shared data with your linked partner
- Send daily email reports if you opt in (via Resend email service)
- Send push notifications if you opt in
- Improve the app experience
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your financial data for advertising or profiling.
4. Data Sharing
Your expense and category data is shared only with your linked partner — no one else.
We use the following third-party services:
- Clerk — Authentication (Google Sign-In). See Clerk's Privacy Policy.
- MongoDB Atlas — Database storage. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
- Resend — Email delivery for daily reports. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in MongoDB Atlas with encryption at rest and in transit. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information. Authentication is handled by Clerk, which provides secure session management and token handling.
While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at the email address below.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for optional processing (e.g. email reports)
